I use IRC frequently and I run it inside a screen so it’s always online and I can access the same IRC session from any computer running a terminal emulation software, like PuTTY. This is great, but even better is to combine irssi and screen with push notifications to your Android Phone. This is possible and quite easy to setup, all you need is to install IrssiNotifier from Google Play. Follow the on-screen instructions and go to he Irssi Notifier webpage and do the setup guide, this gives you a script that you add into Irssi to enable notifications.

When I set up this I also added a script to irssi that set my status to away as soon as I detach my screen, this is really great because I’ve set Irssi Notifier to only highlight me when I’m away. This gives me notifications in my phone when I’m not at home and when I use IRC at home, the phone stays silent. You can find the script here: Screen_away.

Download it and just do /run /path/to/screen_away.pl and you’re set. For a Readme just open the script in a text editor.
